A partial tapescript of the following interview (90 seconds) can be found below:
Hal Hartley: “Here in the United States, movies like Trust and maybe Flirt might never be released on DVD because of legal craziness.” [A company bought the rights, but isn't keen on distributing. Despite Hal's offer to distribute it himself and give the company their share of the profits.] “For me, it’s just… I want people to see it.”
Interviewer: “Your fans love it though… [...] As it’s not out on DVD, someone posted it on YouTube, as they love that movie so much. I don’t know if you care about that.”
Hal Hartley: “I don’t mind about the pirating. I mind about the quality. [...]You know what would be better on YouTube? If someone would just put something up that would say: “You know what? Go to Hal Hartley’s website possiblefilms.com. Connect to microcinema.com. Buy a really beautiful, pristine version of Trust and get yourself an all-region DVD player.” I would appreciate that.”
Because it’s not out on DVD in the US, Delirium Vault will post the links to the YouTube version. Watch a clip (or more clips) from Trust and if you like it, go to microcinema.com where you can get the Australian DVD (Region 4).
DV usually doesn’t post this sort of film online, but if the powers that be are unwilling to distribute a film on DVD, we will take stand and help the director to get his film out in the open again.
